ACTIVITIES IN THE NEARBY AREA

With Waxholmsbolaget is it easy to reach the archipelago, both short trips to Vaxholm or other surrounding islands, it is also possible to make longer trips to the outer archipelago or to Stockholm with Waxholmsbolaget.

VAXHOLM (map)

Vaxholm, only one hour with the pedestrian boat from Stockholm and only ten minutes with boat from Tynningö, a small village with restaurants, café, gallieries and small boutiques, it is recomended to visit.


In addition to everything to see in Vaxholm, there are opportunities for a guided tour of the castle, a fortress outside Vaxholm, with a museum depicting the history of the archipelago's defense over five hundred years.


From Vaxholm, you can also get to Bogesunds Castle. Knowledgeable guides take you through the castle in 60 minutes so you get to know the castle's owner and get a glimpse of the great power era.

GUSTAVSBERG (map)

Gustavsberg is a town center and central location in Värmdö municipality, 22 kilometers east of central Stockholm.


In Gustavsberg more than 100 years ago, a unique art history and porcelain production began. A large part of the culture is still there, and the wings of history are reminiscent of both here and there.


In Gustavsberg you can visit the porcelain museum, the porcelain factory with shop, a fantastic gallery and glass expo, glass hut as well as nice shops and cafes in Gustavsbergs hamn.

DJURGÅRDEN (map)


It is possible to take the Vaxholmsboat to Stockholm from Tynningö and from there reach Djurgården. At Djurgården you should at least visit Skansen and

Vasa Museum. You have a lot of more museum too. You have also the possibility to visit  Stockholm Tivoly called Gröna Lund. WIth a partikular boat from Stockholm, you can reach the islands Fjäderholmarna.


All destinations above are also easily reached by car or with your own boat from Tynningö. There is a guestport, Wasahamnen, to dock your boat at Djuegården just outside Gröna Lund. 

VELAMSUND  (map)


Velamsund nature reserve is one of Nacka's largest outdoor areas, with hiking trails and exercise loops, swimming area, playground and horses.


It is possible to go there with your own boat, and have a place at the guest jetty. It is also possible to go there by car.


Velamsund has also a stable with horses, at Nacka Ridklubb and the Boo Canoe and Ski Club with kayak rental in summer and cross country skiing in winter.

FREDRIKSBORG (map)


Fredriksborg Fortress with the Oxdjup Tower up on the plateau and the Strandverket by the strait was built in 1724-1735 to protect Stockholm after the fall of the great power. It became the strongest fortress of its time and protected Oxdjupspassagen for over 100 years.

Historical guided tours for guests are offered every day in the period May-September in the Fortress. On Thursdays in July and August the restautant have barbecue evenings with troubadours.To get there take the bus 688 from Vaxholm to Oscar-Fredriksborg on Rindö, then take the free road ferry 3 minutes to Värmdö. On arrival, take the small dirt road up to the left, and then walk about 10 minutes. 

NACKA GOLF CLUB (map)


30 minutes with car inkluding the carferry or 45 minutes with the bikes, you reach Nacka GK.

During summer it is possible to play golf.

During winter they prepare the area for cross country skiing. 

There is also a restaurant at the golf club open daytime. For lunch, they serve Swedish home cooking with a large delicious salad buffet and home-baked bread. 

YASURAGI SPA (map)


With the Waxholmsboat you can go from Tynningö to Hasseludden in 30 minutes, or by car 50 minutes. 

At Yasuragi you can relax in true Japanese spirit. Unwind both body and mind with the help of Japanese ablution, our outdoor hot springs surrounded by breathtaking nature, indoor large pools, hot and cold tubs and saunas of various kinds.

Yasuragi serves food inspired by the Japanese cuisine.

You will find their à la carte restaurant Minamo, the classic Teppanyaki Kiri and the newly opened Izakaya Nagi.

ISLANDS WITH BOAT (map)


It is also possible to take the Vaxholmsboat to reach other island like Sandhamn, Grinda, Möja or Finnhamn. Most boats parts from Vaxholm.


One possibility is to book a dinner on the steamboat Storskär. The Boat Storskär runs daily Monday - Friday from Tynningö Höganäs at 17.45 to Ljusterö and is back at Tynningö Höganäs at 21.05. A just right long journey for a good dinner, which many Tynningö residents do every summer. 

Tables have to be booked in advance at Blidösundsbolaget.
